The Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle is a vital leadership role responsible for optimizing the revenue cycle processes within the organization. This position focuses on enhancing operational efficiency, improving collection rates, and implementing best practices through technology and data-driven strategies. The Assistant Director collaborates with various stakeholders, including clinical and administrative teams, to streamline workflows, manage financial performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role also involves analyzing metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting staff training to elevate overall performance in revenue cycle management. Ultimately, the Assistant Director plays a key role in maximizing revenue while minimizing costs, contributing to the organization’s financial health and sustainability.

Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following competencies and skills:

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build effective relationships with VIP leaders, providers, office managers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely processing of provider applications.
  • Team Support: Work collaboratively within a team, fostering a supportive work environment.
  • Process and Technology Enhancements: Identify and recommend improvements in processes and technology to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and meet objectives.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, regarding revenue cycle issues and strategies.
  • Training Development: Assist in creating and delivering training materials for diverse audiences, along with developing metrics to assess performance improvements.
  • Denial Management Expertise: Understand denial management practices to support the resolution of issues.
  • Software Systems Proficiency: Possess a strong understanding of billing software systems and their interactions, enabling effective assessments and recommendations for improvement.
  • Contract Oversight: Maintain a thorough understanding of managed care contracts to ensure appropriate payments from insurance companies.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Be knowledgeable about insurance deductibles and co-insurance requirements to facilitate accurate collections during patient check-ins.
  • Independent Working: Demonstrate the ability to work independently while effectively managing responsibilities.
  • Information Accuracy: Ensure clear communication of information affecting the practice’s collection capabilities from both insurers and patients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
  • At least ten years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management, ideally within a multi-location physician practice and ASC setting (Ophthalmology experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with practice management systems (NextGen preferred) and related reporting.
  • Experience in integrating acquisitions and developing training programs.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proven ability to leverage technology for performance improvement.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.
  • Proficient in software applications, including Excel, Word, Portal Tools, and Fee Schedules.
  • Ability to thrive independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Limited travel may be required.

 

$110,000 - $128,000 annual

 

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as, but not limited to bonus, full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, annual educational reimbursement, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Work Environment
This role is hybrid-based with some office based and some remote work with occasional travel to clinic locations. The typical work environment features quiet to moderate noise levels.
