We are seeking a skilled, energetic, patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our outstanding team at Northeastern Eye Institute in Scranton, PA. Our ideal candidate is already a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician. However, we will provide on-the-job training to the right candidates as they work toward certification. We also pay for education assistance!  In this role, your primary responsibilities are to assist the providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and other administrative tasks. On-the-job training upon hiring! 

• Take medical histories and verify information
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
• Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
• Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
• Explain how to use eye drops or other medications properly
• Explain how to use contact lenses properly
• Assist with clinical supplies and clinic functionality.
• MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO OTHER LOCATIONS

• High School diploma or GED certificate
• Certification or Registration as a Medical Assistant
• Experience in a clinical setting is strongly preferred
• Experience in ophthalmology is preferred
