The Scrub Tech and Supply Manager will play a crucial role in our surgical team at our Carroll County Surgery Center practice in Westminster, MD, by providing direct support during surgical procedures and overseeing the management of surgical supplies. This dual role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of surgical protocols and supply chain management. Supports surgical operations under the supervision of Surgeons, Registered Nurses, and Surgical Assistants  in delivering the highest standard of patient care available. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure.
  • Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings.
  • Set up a sterile and sanitary environment and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures.
  • Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables to prevent injury to patients.
  • Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies.
  • Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Patient First mindset in providing the highest level of care.
  • Oversee the inventory of surgical supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.
  • Conduct regular audits of supply inventory to identify and address discrepancies or shortages.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing and manage procurement processes effectively.
  • Implement and maintain a system for tracking and managing supplies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate the storage and organization of supplies in the surgical center to promote efficiency and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to identify and anticipate supply needs based on scheduled procedures.

 

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a surgical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with surgical staff and vendors.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software and other relevant technology.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certification as a surgical technologist preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support certificate is required.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with a high volume of patients, families, and staff in a stressful environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies located in the operating room.

 

$21.54 - $24.19.00 an hour

 

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as, but not limited to full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, annual educational reimbursement, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO).
