Responsibilities

What Roles Can You Choose From:   

Medical Front Desk Assistant:

  • Greet patients with professionalism and warmth, in person and on the phone.

  • Comfort patients by addressing concerns and anticipating anxieties

  • Efficiently manage appointment scheduling to optimize patient satisfaction and provider time.

  • Notify clinical staff of patient arrivals.

  • Maintain and update patient records to ensure treatment info is accurate and accessible.

  • Verify financial details, collect payments, and help process insurance claims.

  • Manage office supplies and ensure clinic equipment is well-stocked and maintained.

  • Support cross-functional clinic duties and rotate shifts as needed. Must be Flexible

  • Assist patients with the check-in kiosk and help across various departments throughout the day.

Ophthalmic Technician: 

  • Collect and document detailed medical and ocular histories, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic and vision function tests, including: Applanation tonometry, Refraction
    Retinoscopy.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment such as the Humphrey Field Analyzer and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to capture eye measurements and assist in patient evaluations.
  • Prepare patients for eye exams by administering dilating drops and providing clear instructions.
  • Report any changes in a patient’s visual acuity or symptoms to the ophthalmologist.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and care of eye drops, medications, and contact lenses.
  • Assist with inventory management and exam room supply maintenance.
  • Support clinical staff with additional administrative or clinical tasks as needed.

Ophthalmic Scribe: 

  • Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, document the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and follow compliance guidelines.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician and other procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants. 
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician via dictation or summary of the medical record; ensure that letters are prepared to all physicians involved in a patient’s care and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and perform other clerical tasks as assigned. 
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests. Provide necessary patient education and explanations of risks and benefits. 
  • Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by a physician.
  • Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring:

  • Ability to maintain confidential employee and company information.  
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and work independently.  
  • Apply exceptional communication skills to interact with patients and schedule appointments and surgeries.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • COA or COT is a plus but not required. 
  • Ability to Scribe is a PLUS!  
  • Customer service background 
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records software is a plus.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Completing an accredited Medical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician program (COA, COT, or MA certification) is preferred.

  • Previous experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or as a medical assistant or scribe is strongly preferred.
