We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our patient care team at our Metropolitan Ophthalmology Associates located in Chevy Chase, MD.  We are looking for the Ideal candidate with medical or tech experience. However, we are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work toward certification. In this role, your primary tasks will be to assist providers with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures, as well as administrative tasks.

What You Will Do:

• Take medical histories and verify information
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
• Utilize tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
• Inform the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses
• Assist with inventory management

What You Will Bring: 

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Completion of an ophthalmic assistant or technician program strongly preferred (COA or COT)
• Experience working as an ophthalmic technician or scribe is preferred
• Experience with EMR tools a plus
• Proficient with MS Office tools (outlook, excel, word)

$17.00 - $27.00 an hour

Pay offered is for this location only and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including  skills, certifications, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as, but not limited to full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, annual educational reimbursement, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO).
